The plastic crisis has long since reached the economy. Whether critical inquiries from customers or demands from the political side – manufacturers today have to take a very different look at the subject of packaging. The measures proposed by the EU Commission for the circular economy package are an important point of reference here. “Avoid, reduce, recycle” is the motto in the field of packaging. More recycling (also of used plastic from the post-consumer area) is one of the key concepts for reducing the use of resources and keeping the value of the materials in circulation for as long as possible. The recycling of materials is of great importance, especially in the area of food packaging, which is usually only used once and this possibly with a very short period of use. On the other hand, food also has special requirements in terms of protective function and preservation of quality.
As part of the joint online event, the current political orientation of the circular economy and concrete examples of success from the economy are on the agenda. The event addresses questions such as “How does recycling actually work in the different systems in Germany?” Or “When is packaging recyclable?” The exchange with one another and with companies in the packaging and recycling industry is also not neglected.
